Alvarado, Lambert Power SE to Win over OBU

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Marilyn Alvarado and Alexis Lambert homered as Southeastern opened its road series against Oklahoma Baptist with a 9-3 victory on Friday afternoon in Shawnee, Okla.
 
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 19-8 overall and 10-8 in Great American Conference play heading into a Saturday doubleheader scheduled for a noon start.
 
Alvarado posted a pair of hits, one of them a grand slam, while Kady Fryrear also added two hits.
 
Lambert homered on her one hit, while Kamarie Wallace doubled, with Lauren White, Gracie Ore, and Bailey Beard each adding a hit.
 
Alvarado finished with four RBI, White would drive in two runs, while Wallace and Lambert added an RBI each.
 
Cheyenne Mahy got the start and collected the win after allowing three runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
 
AMberlynn Walsworth would come on and toss the final two innings and strike out four of the six batters she faced.
 
SE got on the board in the top of the first inning with a Lambert homer and a Wallace RBI double, followed two batters later when White would drive in a pair of runs on a single to take a 4-0 lead.
 
OBU would get a run back in the bottom of the first and another in the second to close the gap to 4-2.
 
Both offenses cooled until the fifth inning, with SE adding a run when Mahy reached on an error, before loading the bases for Alvarado who connected on a grand slam to take a 9-2 lead.
 
 The Bison would get one more run in the bottom of the fifth, but Walsworth would come on for the final two innings and SE would hold on for the 9-3 victory.
