Dworsky, Brzovic, And Green Highlight Seven GAC Honors

DURANT, Okla. – After wrapping up a Regular Season Great American Conference Championship, Southeastern has dominated the league's postseason honors with Adam Dworsky picking up Player of the Year honors, while Ante Brzovic was named the league's Freshman of the Year, and head coach Kelly Green earned Coach of the Year honors on Wednesday night on the eve of the conference tournament.
 
In all, six Savage Storm players picked up an honor with Green adding his Coach of the Year recognition.
 
Dworsky and Brzovic were named first team selections in addition to their specialty awards.
 
Kellen Manek picked up a second team All-GAC selection, while Bobby Johnson and Jett Sternberger were both named honorable mention all-conference.
 
Taylor Cox was recognized for his work in the classroom and was men's basketball's only Elite Scholar Athlete, while Dworsky and Manek were named Distinguished Scholar Athletes.
 
Dworsky, a senior from Flower Mound, Texas, is averaging 17.5 ppg while shooting 51.7 percent from the field overall and 45.1 percent form beyond the arc.  He leads the GAC in assists with 6.8 per game and has swiped a team-best 1.7 stelas per game while adding 3.8 rebounds per contest.
 
Brzovic, a freshman from Zagreb, Croatia, is averaging 17.6 ppg to lead the team and is averaging a double-double with 10.7 rebounds per contest which ranks second in the league. He is shooting 53.3 percent form the field overall and hitting 33.8 from beyond the arc.
 
Manek, a senior from Harrah, Okla., averaged 12.7 ppg on the year while shooting 44.4 percent from the field and hitting 38.9 percent from three-point range. He is also second the team in rebounding with 6.4 rebounds per game and is dishing out 3.0 assists per game.
 
Sternberger, a sophomore from Kingfisher, Okla., is averaging 16.7 ppg on the year, shooting 44.3 percent overall and 38.3 percent from beyond the arc. He is also an 87.0 percent free throw shooter and has added 3.8 rpg and 1.0 steals per outing.
 
Johnson, a senior from Atoka, Okla., is putting up 13.1 ppg on the season and shooting 53.3 percent overall and 41.7 percent from three-point range. He has also added 3.6 rebounds per game with 1.1 assists per contest.
 
The Savage Storm will open play in the GAC Tournament on March 3 at 5:45 p.m. when it takes on East Central at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Okla.
