SE Fans 10 in Series Opening Win vs. SNU

DURANT, Okla. – Kamarie Wallace homered while Amberlyn Walsworth and Cheyenne Mahy combined to strikeout 10 as Southeastern opened its series against Southern Nazarene with a 6-2 win on Friday afternoon at the SE Softball Field.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 11-10 on the season and 2-2 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series slated for a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

Walsworth got the start and earned the win after allowing two runs on five hits across five innings while striking out seven.

Mahy then picked up her second save of the year by tossing the final two innings, allowing a hit while striking out three.

Wallace finished the contest with a pair of hits, including her solo homer, while Peyton Streetman, Alexis Lambert, Mahy, Bailey Beard, and Lauren White each picked up a hit.

Streetman, Lambert, Mahy, Wallace, and White each recorded an RBI as well.

SNU got on the board first with an RBI double in the second inning.

Southeastern found its answer in the third inning as Lambert and Mahy would squeeze home runs on back-to-back plate appearances, taking a 2-1 lead.

The Crimson Storm would pick up a run in the top of the fourth on a solo homer to tie the game at 2-2.\

That would not remain the case long as Wallace led off the bottom of the fourth with a solo homer to retake the lead at 3-2.

Later in the inning White would tack on an insurance run with an RBI single, and Beard would round out the scoring as she advanced to third on a wild pitch and made it home on a throwing error by the SNU catcher to take a 5-2 lead.

Streetman would add on one final insurance run in the sixth when she drew a bases-loaded walk to set the final score at 6-2.
