DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern opened its Saturday by holding off a late charge to pick up a 4-3 win over Southern Nazarene in game one, securing a series victory, before allowing four runs in the seventh inning to drop the series finale 4-0 at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 12-11 overall and 3-3 in Great American Conference play.

Marilyn Alvarado led the Storm in game one with a pair of hits, while
Peyton Streetman,
Bailey Beard,
Cheyenne Mahy,
Kady Fryrear,
Kamarie Wallace, and
Kyia Monahwee each added one hit.

Fryrear added a pair of RBI, while Mahy and Monahwee each drove in one.

Mahy got the start and picked up the win after tossing 5.1 innings and allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out three.

Amberlyn Walsworth tossed the final 1.2 innings to pick up her second save of the year, allowing a run on two hits with three strikeouts.

Monahwee put the Storm on the board with an RBI single to score Wallace for a 1-0 lead.

Mahy would add to the lead with an RBI walk in the fifth inning, and a batter later Fryrear would connect on a two-run single, plating Beard and Streetman to stretch the lead to 4-0.

SNU would get a pair of solo homers in the sixth and add another in the seventh, but the Storm would hold on for the 4-3 win.

In the finale, Mahy and Fryrear would each collect a hit, but that was the extent of the Storm offense.

Walsworth would get the start and toss 7.0 innings in taking the loss, allowing three unearned runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

Mahy would allow one unearned run and faced one batter in the seventh.

Neither team would get on the board over the first six innings, but the Crimson Storm would take advantage of an error to open the seventh inning, connecting on back-to-back two-run hits with two outs to take a 4-0 lead which would be the final score.
