SE Splits Road Doubleheader at OBU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Southeastern combined for 18 hits over two games, picking up a 7-1 win in the opener over Ouachita Baptist, but saw a pitcher's duel turn against them in a 3-1 loss in game two on Friday afternoon in Arkadelphia, Ark.
 
The split moves the Savage Storm to 23-22 overall on the season and 14-12 in Great American Conference play with the series finale set for 11 a.m. on Saturday.
 
Kady Fryrear logged a pair of hits and drove in a team-high three runs to lead the Storm offensively.
 
Marilyn Alvarado and Cheyenne Mahy added two hits each, while Lauren White drove in a pair of runs with Alvarado adding one RBI.
 
In the circle, Mahy put together a complete game effort in the victory, tossing seven innings and allowing a run on four hits with one strikeout.
 
White put SE on the board in the second inning with an RBI groundout that plated Alvarado for a 1-0 lead.
 
OBU would tie the game in the bottom of the second, but the Storm would regain the lead when Beard scored on an error and pushed the lead to 3-1 with an RBI single to center.
 
The Storm would tack on runs in the fifth, first with a three-run double by Fryrear and a batter later Fryrear would score on a White single to push the lead to 7-1 which would hold up as the final.
 
The nightcap saw Kamarie Wallace collected three hits and Peyton Streetman add two, while Mahy drove in a run.
 
Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed a complete game in the loss, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings with six strikeouts.
 
Mahy out the Storm on the board in the third with an RBI single to center, but the Tigers would tie the game with a run in the fourth and take a 3-1 lead in the sixth which would be the final.
