Storm Bounce Back With Sweep of OBU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern bounced back from a series-opening loss in style, combining for 22 runs en route to a Saturday sweep of Oklahoma Baptist, taking game one 13-9 before holding on for a 9-8 win in the finale to secure the weekend series at Mike Metheny Field.
 
The sweep lifts the Savage Storm to 24-10 overall and 13-8 in Great American Conference play.
 
Seth Morrow, Reid Rice, and Dylan Herd each homered in the opener, as Morrow put together a 4-for-6 outing while Herd, Rice, and Luke Lockhert each added two hits.
 
Herd would drive in a game-high five, while Morrow finished the contest with four RBI, with Rice, Hayden Evans, and Lockhert adding an RBI each.
 
Connor Priest got the start and took a no decision after allowing four runs on five hits in four innings of work.
 
Logan Teske followed with two-thirds of an inning and allowed two runs on two hits before Jordan Compton came on to toss the next 2,1 innings, allowing a run on no hits.
 
Kenneth Klier allowed a run on a hit in one-third of an inning before Jackson Sioson came on to toss the final 1.2 innings and allowed a run on two hits with two strikeouts to earn the win.
 
OBU took an early 2-0 lead, but the Storm would bounce back with a Herd squeeze bunt to drive in Angel Ochoa, and Morrow singling in Lockhert to tie the game at 2-2.
 
OBU would put up four runs in the fifth, but he Storm again found an answer in the sixth as Herd connected on a two-run homer, followed by solo shots from Rice and Morrow to tie the game at 6-6.
 
Herd would drive in a run on an error in the seventh to take a 7-6 lead.
 
OBU would regain the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth, but the Storm would answer again in the bottom of the eighth as Evans, Lockhert, and Herd each drive in a run before a Morrow single would bring home two runs and push the lead to 13-8.
 
The Bison would get one run in the top of the ninth but the Storm would hold on for the 13-9 victory.
 
In the finale, Morrow collected a pair of hits while four others had one hits each.
 
Evans would collect three RBI as would Joseph Ramirez, while Morrow, Rice, and Ochoa drove in one each.
 
Cole Canuteson got the start and tossed 3.0 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on four hits with four strikeouts.
 
Jacob Potter would come on and pick up the win in relief in 3.2 innings pitched with three runs allowed, two of them earned, on four hits with two strikeouts.
 
Jackson Sioson would face two batters before Coby Langford came pon tow record the final out and pick up his first save.
 
OBU took the lead in the first inning, but a Morrow homer to lead off the bonttom fot he first would tie the game at 1-1.
 
Rice would tack on a run and Evans would add two more before an Ochoa sac fly pushed the lead to 5-1.
 
OBU rebounded with a run in the second, but Ramirez would drive in three runs on a double to push the lead to 8-2.
 
The Bison would close the gap with three runs in the third and another in the sixth to make it 8-6.
 
Evans would tack on an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth that would be key as OBU would pick up a pair of runs and would leave the bases loaded as the Storm held on for a 9-8 win in the finale.
