MONTICELLO, Ark. –
Briley Moon scored a game-high 29 points but it was not enough to lift Southeastern on the road as the Savage Storm fell to Arkansas-Monticello 67-56 on Thursday night in Monticello, Ark.

The loss drops SE to 4-8 on the season overall and 2-5 in Great American Conference play heading into a Saturday afternoon matchup with Southern Arkansas at 1 p.m. in Magnolia, Ark.

Moon put together her 29-point effort by shooting 10-of-19 overall with a 5-of-9 effort from beyond the arc.

She also just missed a double-double, hauling in nine rebounds to lead all players on the glass.

Caitlin Kobiske also reached double-figures with 11 points, while
Holli Lindley added six and
Karyssa Jackson chipped in four.

Southeastern opened the game on a 9-0 run, with Moon scoring eight of those points. UAM would answer through and score the next nine point to tie the game at 9-9 with 2:50 to play in the period.

SE would close out the quarter with a 9-6 edge to take a 19-16 lead into the first quarter break.

The Storm lead would reach six points early in the second, but the Cotton Blossoms would tie the game at 24-24 by t he 5:03 mark of the frame. The teams would combine for three ties and four lead changes over the final five minutes of the half, with UAM scoring the final four points of the quarter to take a 32-30 lead at the half.

UAM would push its lead to as many as 11 points in the third quarter, but Moon would score the final four points of the third period to close the deficit to 50-43 at the final break.

SE would make a push it he first half of the fourth quarter, twice closing the gap to five points, but was unable to rally beyond that as the Blossoms would pull away to a 67-56 final score.
