SE Falls to Bison on Thursday

DURANT, Okla. – D'Nari Mills turned in 18 kills and Maci Morrison stepped into the setter role and dished out 35 assists but Southeastern was unable to pick up the victory on Thursday night, falling to Oklahoma Baptist by a 3-0 score in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The loss is the second-straight to a team tied at the top of the Great American Conference and moves the Savage Storm record to 12-14 overall and 7-7 in league play with two games remaining on the schedule.

"?I think we played well tonight," said head coach Nicole Solum-Mitchell. "We pushed OBU in the second and third sets. We struggled to slow down their middles, but I'm really proud of our group for handling adversity tonight. Our outsides stepped up offensively and I think Peyton did a great job stepping into the libero position. OBU is a top team in this league and I think we held our composure and made them make some adjustments."

Mills posted 18 kills to lead the Storm offensively, while Noelia Rocha followed with 10 and Faith Kruebbe chipped in six.

Morrison stepped into the setter role for an injured Ruthie Forson and dished out 35 assists while adding two kills on offense with 12 digs on defense.

Defensively, Peyton Kriegel picked up a match-high 23 digs, with Morrison next up with 12, followed by seven each from Kruebbe and Amaya Constantino.

Michera Moffett and Kruebbe each added three blocks.

In the opening set, SE would come out and grab the first three points, but the Bison responded with eight-straight points to take the lead.  The Storm would rally and tie the set four times, the last at 15-15 before OBU closed out the set on a 10-4 run to take the set 25-19.

Set two was close early before the Bison used a 9-4 run to open up a lead and hold off a Storm rally for the 25-20 win and a 2-0 lead.

The third set was the most back-and-forth of the night, feature 11 ties and a pair of lead changes, with SE nearly rallying to extend the match before OBU took the set 25-23 to make the final 3-0.
