Softball Drops Pair of Games on Saturday

BENTONVILLE, Ark.  – Southeastern found hits hard to come by on Saturday in Bentonville, Ark., and despite a pair of complete-game pitching outings the Savage Storm dropped a pair of contests, first to Pittsburg State, 3-0, before ending the day with a 3-1 loss to Truman State in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic.
 
The losses dip the Savage Storm to 3-4 on the year heading into a pair of Sunday matchups, first versus Missouri Southern State at 11 am followed by No. 1 ranked Rogers State at 1:30 p.m.
 
In the opener, Bailey Beard, Iliana Olivares, Alexis Massie, and India McMurray each collected a hit.
 
Taylor Reese got the start and tossed a complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out one while allowing three runs, one of them earned.
 
PSU scored on an error in the first to get on the board and added an RBI double followed by another sun on an error to take the 3-0 lead which would hold to be the final.
 
In game two, Gracie Ore, Massie, Jaleigh Durst, and Reese each collected a hit, with Ore and Reese each doubling.
 
Reese would pick up an RBI.
 
Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed a complete game, allowing three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in the loss.
 
TSU would lead off the bottom of the first inning with a homer and add another run for a 2-0 lead after one inning.
 
Reese would drive in a run in the top of the second to close the gap to 2-1.
 
However, the Bulldogs would add a run in the fifth to fashion the final of 3-1.
