Baseball Closes Series with 6-1 Win over CCU

DURANT, Okla. – Jake Miller homered for the third-straight day and helped lift Southeastern to a 6-1 win over Colorado Christian in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The win gives the Savage Storm a 3-1 win in the weekend series and lifts the overall record to 4-3 on the year heading into a Tuesday road matchup against Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla.

Miller turned in the only multi-hit outing for SE, finishing the day 2-for-3 with a solo homer.

Cory Bonstrom, Reid Rice, Cameron French, and Joseph Ramirez each added hits.

Ramirez drove in a pair of runs while Miller's homer was the only other RBI.

The Storm were busy on the basepaths again, with four players combining on six stolen bases.

Dylan Turner got the start and went 6.0 innings to earn the win, allowing a run on six hits with three strikeouts.

Hayden Alexander tossed two scoreless innings in relief, allowing a hit while striking out two.

Brody Logsdon finished the contest with an inning of work, striking out one and retiring the side.

CCU took advantage of a bases loaded, two out walk in the top of the first to get on the board with a 1-0 lead.

Southeastern answered in the bottom half of the inning, first with Bonstrom tying the game by scoring on a wild pitch, just before Miller connected on his solo shot to left to push the lead to 2-1.

Ramirez tacked on two more runs with a well placed two-run double down the rightfield line in the sixth to expand the lead to 4-1 after six innings.

The Storm would close out the scoring in the eighth, first when Matt Miles stole home across from Dylan Herd on a double-steal, with Herd scoring a batter later on an error to push the lead to 6-1 which would hold up as the final score.
