EDMOND, Okla.  – Southeastern wrapped up play in the Raising Cane's Collegiate Festival by first picking up its third-straight win, besting Northeastern State, 5-1, before nearly upsetting No. 6 Central Oklahoma on its home field, dropping a 5-4 decision in the weekend finale.

The split moves the Savage Storm record to 6-8 on the season as they will now prepare for both their home and Great American Conference opener Versus Arkansas-Monticello Feb,. 24-25 at the Southeastern Softball Field.

Reese Taylor tossed a complete game victory in the opener on Sunday, allowing a run on five hits with five strikeouts over seven innings of work.

Five different players collected hits in the game, with
Iliana Olivares collecting a pair of RBI and
Cheyenne Mahy adding one.
Â
Olivares would put the Storm on the board in the third inning when she connected on a two-run single to stake SE to a 2-0 lead.
Â
NSU would get a run on the board in the top of the sixth to cut the SE lead in half.

Southeastern responded with a trio of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, first with Mahy bringing home
Gracie Ore on a sac fly, before taking advantage of a RiverHawk error to add two more runs and pish the lead to 5-1 which would hold up as the final score.

In the finale, the Storm would jump in front of the host Bronchos when Mahy connected on a solo homer in the top of the first inning.

UCO would answer with four runs in the bottom of the second with a pair of RBI doubles and a sac fly.

Southeastern would mount a rally, first as
India McMurray plated
Kady Fryrear on a sac fly in the top of the fifth before Sabetha Sand doubled home
Ananda Garrison two batters later to close the gap to 4-3.

Fryrear would then double home the game-tying run in the top of the sixth to knot the game at 4-4.

Unfortunately, UCO would get an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to steak the contest by a 504 final.

Fryrear and Garrison each collected two hits in the contest, while Sands, Mahy, Fryrear and McMurray each drove in a run.

Mahy would get he start and toss 2.1 innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits in 2.1 innings pitched.

Janelle Marwitz would follow with 1.2 innings of work without allowing a run and only giving up one hit.

Taylor would finish the contest and was saddled with the loss after allowing a run on three hits in 2.1 innings pitched.
