DURANT, Okla. – Eight players collected hits in the home opener to help propel Southeastern to a 4-3 win, but the day would end in a split with a 9-1 loss in game two versus Arkansas-Monticello on Friday at the Southeastern Softball Field.

With the weather tweaking the schedule, SE now moves to 7-9 overall on the season and 1-1 to open Great American Conference play with the rubber match of the series slated for noon on Saturday.

IN game one,
Alexis Massie collected a pair of hits to lead the way, while
Sammi Dutton,
Sabetha Sands,
Cheyenne Mahy,
Iliana Olivares,
Gracie Ore,
Kady Fryrear, and
Bailey Beard each added a hit.
Â
Dutton, Sands, Olivares, and Massie would each drive in a run as well.

Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed a complete game in the win, allowing three runs, only one of them earned, on seven hits with five strikeouts.

SE got the scoring moving in the third, first on a Sands RBI double which plated Dutton from first base.

Two batters later Olivares would double home Sands and a batter after that it was Masie's turn to drive in Olivares on an RBI single to stake the Storm to a 3-0 lead.

UAM would get a run back in the top of the fourth, but SE had an answer in the bottom half as Beard would cash in on a triple by scoring on a Dutton groundout to push the lead to 4-1.

The Cotton Blossoms would threaten in the sixth, picking up a pair of runs and stranding the tying run at third as Walsworth would coax a strikeout and a flyout to end the threat and preserve the 4-3 win.

In game two, Sands and Beard would each collect a hit, with Sands driving in the team's lone run.

Reese Taylor got the start and was saddled with the loss after allowing seven runs, four earned, over 3.2 innings of with three strikeouts across from seven hits allowed.

Walsworth would come in and toss one-0third of an inning in relief before
Janelle Marwitz came on to toss the final inning, allowing two runs on two hits.

UAM would pick up two runs in the first and add another in the third to take a 3-0 lead midway through the third before a Sands RBI double would bring home Beard and cut the deficit to 3-1.

However, the Cotton Blossoms would answer with four runs in the fourth and tack on two more in the fifth to trigger the 9-1 run rule.
