SE Softball Sweeps Twinbill Over Rangers

DURANT, Okla. – Amberlyn Walsworth and Reese Taylor each tossed a gem as Southeastern swept Northwestern Oklahoma State in a Saturday doubleheader, taking game one 5-0 and game two 6-1 at the Southeastern Softball Field.
 
The wins lifts the Savage Storm to 21-16 and 15-4 in Great American Conference play with the final game of the series slated for 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.
 
In the opener, Walsworth tossed her second-straight complete-game shutout in a conference matchup after allowing no runs on three hits in seven innings pitched with nine strikeouts.
 
Kady Fryrear led the offense in the contest with a 3-for-3 performance and two RBI.
 
Kamryn Rackley, Iliana Olivares, Sammi Dutton, and Bailey Beard each picked up a hit.
 
Rackley, Olivares, and Beard each added an RBI.
 
SE got on the board in the second with a Beard RBI single to drive in Fryrear, followed a batter later by a bases-loaded walk drawn by Rackley to plate Olivares for a 2-0 lead.
 
In the fifth, Fryrear would bring home two runs on a double and a batter later she would score on an Olivares double to push the lead out to 5-0 which would hold up as the final.
 
In game two, Taylor was tagged with an unearned run on seven hits with six strikeouts on her way to the win.
 
Sabetha Sands and Cheyenne Mahy each collected three hits, while Rackley added two and Dutton chipped in one.
 
Fryrear would finish with a pair of RBI, while Sands, Mahy, and Dutton each drove in one.
 
Fryrear would drive n the first run of the game when he drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the first inning.
 
In the third inning Mahy would double home Rackley which was followed by a Fryrear sac fly to take a 3-0 lead.
 
Mahy would come home on a wild pitch later in the third and a Dutton RBI single would push the lead to 5-0 after three innings.
 
The Rangers would tack on a run in the fifth, but Sands would answer with an RBI single to make the final score 6-1.
