DURANT, Okla. – Homers by
Cheyenne Mahy and
Kady Fryrear powered Southeastern to a 4-3 win over rival East Central in the series finale on Tuesday afternoon in Ada, Okla.
Â
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 24-18 overall on the season and 18-6 I Great American Conference play.
Â
Sabetha Sands and Fryrear each logged a pair of hits, while Mahy,
Gracie Ore, and
Ananda Garrison added one each.
Â
Mahy added two RBI on her homer, while Fryrear drove in one with hers, with Sands driving in a run on a double.
Â
Reese Taylor got the start and tossed 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits with two strikeouts in a no decision.
Â
Amberlyn Walsworth came on in relief and picked up the win after allowing no runs on four hits over 4.1 innings with four strikeouts.
Â
Southeastern would get on the board with a Mahy two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning and a batter later Fryrear would add on with a solo homer to push the lead to 3-0.
Â
The lead would be short lived though as back-to-back doubles by the Tigers in the bottom half of the inning would tie the game up at 3-3.
Â
Both teams were quiet until the top of the sixth when
Ananda Garrison led off with a single and scored from first on a Sands RBI double to right-center field, pushing the lead to 4-3 which would hold up as the final score.
