DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern made some noise against No. 5 Central Oklahoma, but ultimately found itself on the wrong end of a sweep on Tuesday afternoon at the Southeastern Softball Field, dropping the opener 12-3 in eight innings before seeing the nightcap slip by in a 1-0 final.

The losses move the Savage Storm to 26-21 overall on the season heading into a weekend series with Arkansas Tech slated for April 21-22 back at the SE Softball Field.

In the opener,
Cheyenne Mahy collected a pair of hits, including a home run, while
Sabetha Sands and
Marilyn Alvarado each added one.
Â
Mahy and
Kady Fryrear would each log an RBI in the game.
Â
Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed six innings in a no decision, allowing three runs on six hits with eight strikeouts.
Â
Taylor Reese would come on in relief and was tagged for six runs on six hits in 1.1 innings of work, taking the loss.
Â
Janelle Marwitz would finish the game with two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on three hits.

Southeastern struck first in game one, with Fryrear laying down a squeeze bunt in the bottom fo the first inning to drive in Alvarado for the 1-0 lead.

A batter later and Fryrear would steal second with the throw going wide at second and allowing Mahy to score to take a 2-0 lead.

The lead did not last long though as UCO would connect on a two-run homer in the top of the second to knot the game at 2-2.

A solo home run by the Bronchos in the top of the sixth would give them a 3-2 lead, but the Storm had an answer in the bottom half of the inning as Mahy connected on a solo homer of her own to again knot the game, this time at 3-3.

The game would remain tied through seven, forcing an eighth inning where UCO would use nine hits to bring home nine runs and pull away for a 12-3 win.

Game two saw the Storm out-hit the Bronchos 8-to-4, but were unable to bring a run in.

Fryrear and Rackley each had a pair of hits, while Sands, Taylor,
Alexis Massie, and
Sammi Dutton would each add one.

Taylor would get the start and would suffer her second loss of the day after tossing a complete game, allowing a run on four hits with four strikeouts in seven innings.

UCO would bring home the lone run on the game on an RBI single in the top of the sixth to fashion the final of 1-0.
