Savage Storm Men Top #32 Ichabods, 4-3

DURANT, Okla. – Paced with wins in singles and doubles play by Diego Orduz, Southeastern got back to its winning ways with a 4-3 victory over No. 32 Washburn on Sunday afternoon in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 10-6 overall on the season and winners of five of their last six heading into MIAA/GAC South Division play versus Southern Arkansas on April 6 in Magnolia, Ark.

Orduz and his partner Thabo Ncube picked up a 6-1 win at number three doubles, but the Storm would fall at the one and two positions to drop the point and head into singles play down 1-0.

The Ichabods would use a win at one to push the lead to 2-0, but Gen Naraya would polish off a 6-4, 6-1 win over Santiago Rendon at number four to get SE on the board.

Shortly after that, Orduz would knot the match at 2-2 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number six over Daniel Harkin.

WU would answer with a win at number two to briefly regain the lead at 3-2, but Marin Jurkovic would gut out a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at number five to tie the match at 3-3.

That would leave Juan Gonzalez to be the clincher as he too toughed out a three-set win, downing Daniel Bird at the number three position by a 6-4, 5-7, 6-0 score.
