DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State falls at home in the final match of the regular season to Southwestern Oklahoma State 3-0.
The Savage Storm had two players reach double-figure kills, led by
D'Nari Mills with 18, and she would add 11 digs to her totals for a double-double.
Maci Morrison slammed down ten kills on a .474 attack average, while
Ruthie Forson recorded 37 assists and five kills.
Michera Moffett totaled seven kills and tied for a team-high 2.0 total blocks with Forson.
SET ONE
Southeastern and Southwestern Oklahoma State battled back and forth in the opening exchanges, with the score locked at 10-all. SWOSU took the lead on a 4-0 burst before the Storm tied the set again after a block by Forson and Moffett, 18-18. The set remained close, with the Bulldogs holding a two-point edge, and the Storm soon cut it to one 24-23 after back-to-back kills by Morrison, but the SE rally would fall short, with the Bulldogs taking the final point to win 25-23.
SET TWO
The Storm trailed the Bulldogs 7-5 through the first rallies and soon took the lead on a 3-0 run featuring two kills by Morrison. The two sides traded leads from there, as the Storm went back in front on a 5-1 run, 14-12. SE and SWOSU went point-for-point until the Bulldogs found a 3-0 burst to regain the advantage and force an SE timeout.
Southeastern regrouped out of the break, tying the frame 21-all, and took the lead moments later 24-23 to force a timeout from the visitors. After the Bulldog timeout, SWOSU went on to win 31-29 after the set saw six ties in the final rallies.
SET THREE
A fast start by Southeastern had the Storm leading 5-1 at the first break, but following a timeout by the visitors, SWOSU roared back to take the lead 7-6. Southwestern added to its lead with a 6-1 burst, stretching it to 13-8. A pair of kills by Mills cut the gap to three, but the SWOSU attack was quick to reply with a 3-0 burst to keep ahead 19-13. The Bulldogs remained in control, winning the final set 25-18.
