Savage Storm Fall in Low Scoring Home Finale

DURANT, Okla. – The Southeastern defense held Arkansas Tech to just six point but the offense was unable to find any traction as the Savage Storm would drop their home finale on Saturday afternoon 6-0 at Paul Laird Field.

The loss drops SE to 5-5 on the season overall with one final contest set for Nov. 16 when the Storm travel to Ada, Okla., to face off with rival East Central.

Southeastern would collect 171 yards on the ground led by DJ Brown who rushed for 68 yards on 20 carries, while Donovan Shannon was right behind with 66 yards on six totes.

Cergio Perez would come off the bench and pick up the passing attack, finishing 9-of-14 for 133 yards, but was picked off twice.

Victor Taylor would turn in a team-high 65 yards receiving on a pair of catches, while Gabe Corona had a team-best three grabs for 27 yards.

DJ Brown would add 31 yards on two catches, while Asa Robertson had two for 21 yards.

The offense would finish with a game-high 321 yards, while the Storm defense held the Wonder Boys to 239 yards of total offense.

Jalen Hughes led the charge on defense with eight tackles and a pass breakup, while Jordan Hood was next in line with seven stops, a tackle for loss, and a QB hurry, while Dylan Sebock logged a pair of QB hurries and a blocked field goal..

Braeden Winters returned to the lineup and turned in five tackles.

The Storm secondary would record 15 pass breakups in the contest, led by Kole McKnight who posted the best outing by a Storm player since the program joined the NCAA by recording six PBU's.

Tyveon Williams, Keith Wright, and Michael Hookfin each posted two breakups.

The game would sit scoreless at the half, with neither team reaching the red zone and a missed 52-yard field goal by ATU's Christopher Baldazo being the lone attempt at points.

Baldazo would put the Wonder Boys on the board at the 7:47 mark of the third quarter with a 37-yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead.

Dylan Cox would miss a 34 yard attempt on the ensuing drive that would have tied the game on SE's first foray into the red zone.

ATU would attempt a 21 yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, but Sebock would get a hand on it and keep the game at 3-0.

Turnovers would then haunt SE as the ensuing drive ended on an interception near the goal line, and after stopping that drive would have a muffed punt set up the Wonder Boys at the Storm 30 yard line.

They would cap that drive with a 42 yard field goal to push the lead to 6-0 with 5:56 to play.

The next Storm drive would move 59 yards before it came to an end on an interception in the endzone with 2:02 remaining.

The Storm defense would hold and force a punt with the Storm taking over with 1:31 to play and driving to the ATU 31 yardline before a fourth-down toss into the endzone would get knocked away to seal the final.
