DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern polished off a series sweep of Newman on Saturday when it picked up a 12-11 walk off win in game one before closing out the weekend with a 10-5 win in the finale at Mike Metheny Field.

The twinbill sweep lifts the Savage Storm to 6-1 on the season heading into a midweek rematch with Northeastern State, this time in Tahlequah, Okla., on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.

In game one,
Damon Burroughs,
Yanluis Ortiz, and
Reid Rice each collected a pair of hits, while
John David Muse,
Nick Hill,
Wesley Mitchell,
Cameron Cromer, and Matt lies each logged a hit.
Â
Ortiz, Mitchell, and Cromer drove in a pair of runs each, with Rice, Hill, and Miles posting an RBI apiece.
Â
Dylan Turner would get the start and was tagged for five unearned runs over three innings with two strikeouts.
Â
Ben Holbert tossed two innings and allowed two runs on three hits before handing the ball to Brett Tankersly who went 1.1 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits.

Coby Langford and
Jared Barta would combine on an inning of work, with Barts allowing two runs, one earned on one hit.

Brody Logsdon would toss the final 1.2 innings and pick up the win, retiring all five batters he faced.

Ortiz would put the Storm on the board with a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning.

NU would respond with five runs in the top of the third, with SE cutting into the difference with RBI hits from Hill and Cromer to close the contest to 5-4.

The Jets would again push its lead out, taking a 7-4 advantage before a sixth-inning wild pitch brought home Cromer to close the gap to 7-5.

NU brought home two more runs in the seventh, but the Storm would match that pace in the bottom half to trail 9-8 after seven.

Newman posted two runs in the top of the eighth, and again SE kept pace with Mitchell driving in two on a double in the bottom half of the inning. Â

In the bottom of the ninth, Burroughs would come home after an attempt on a Muse steal got away and allowed home to come home from third, tying the game at 10-10.

Muse would then score the winning run on a Rice RBI single to right center taking the game 11-10.

In the finale,
Nick Hill and
Cam Wheeler each went 3-for-4, while Burroughs and Mitchell added two hits apiece.

Brady Evans, Rice, Cromer, and
Austin Thorp chipped in a hit each.
Â
SE collected 10 extra base hits, with Mitchel homering twice, while Rice, Hill, and Wheeler each homered once.

Mitchell finished the game with three RBI, while Rice and Wheeler drove I two each.

Jaden Lewis got the start and tossed an inning, allowing three runs on four hits.

Charlie Deeds would follow with two innings, allowing a run on two hits.

Michael Minaya followed with two innings of work, allowing a run on two hits as well, but picked up the victory.

Hayden Alexander and
Coby Langford combined on an inning before Logsdon came on to throw the final inning.

NU would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but Evans would answer with a two-run double int eh bottom half to make the score 3-1.

Mitchell and Wheeler would connect on solo homers in the second to tie the game at 3-3.

The Jets would tack on a homer in the top of the third, but Hill would answer with a solo shot of his own in the bottom half to keep the game knotted at 4-4.

NU would once more take the lead in the fifth at 5-4, but in the bottom half Rice would score on a wild pitch to tie the game and a Wheeler double would give the Storm a 6-5 lead.

Rice would tack on a two-run homer in the sixth inning, followed by another two-run shot from Mitchell to set the final score at 10-5.
