WICHITA, Kan. – Southeastern stranded 10 runners and after falling behind early was unable to climb out of the hole in a 13-3 loss on Tuesday afternoon to Newman in Wichita, Kan.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-9 overall heading into its first road conference series set for March 1-2 in Weatherford, Okla., versus Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Cache Stone and
Kyler Copeland each collected a pair of hits to lead the Storm offense, while
John David Muse,
Reid Rice, Walter Mitchell, and
Austin Thorp each picked up a hit.

Stone would drive in a pair of runs in the contest, while
Damon Burroughs added an RBI as well.
Â
Michael Minaya got the start and took the loss after allowing four runs on four hits in an inning of work, despite scoring a pair of strikeouts.

Ben Holbert followed with an inning and was tagged for four runs on five hits with one strikeout.

Colby Kroutil came on and turned in the longest outing of the day for SE, tossing 3.0 innings and allowing a run on a hit.

Payton Heinley followed with one-third of an inning and was knocked for four runs, two of them earned, on a hit.
Â
Corbin Lingo would finish the contest with two-thirds of an inning without allowing a run or a hit.

Newman jumped out front early with four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Â
A Stone RBI single in the top of the second would score Mitchell and cut into the deficit, but the Jets would strike with four more in the bottom of the second to mount an 8-1 lead.

NU would tack on a run in the fifth, but Stone would drive in his second run of the day in the top of the sixth to plate Mitchell again and close the gap to 9-2.

However, the Jets would follow with four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to push the advantage to 13-2.

Burroughs would draw a bases-loaded walk to drive in
Cam Wheeler in the top of the seventh, but SE was unable to bring home another run to stave off the run-rule.
