MONTICELLO, Ark. – In a fourth quarter that featured four ties and three lead changes, Southeastern would see a slim lead early in the final frame disappear in a 62-58 loss to Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday night in Monticello, Ark.

The loss dips the Savage Storm to 7-14 overall and 3-12 in Great American Conference play, while the Cotton Blossoms improve to 7-14 overall and 3-12 in GAC play.

Grace Alverson would knock down four threes off the bench to finish the night with a game-high 14 points.

Caitlin Kobiske was next in line with 12 points on the strength of an 8-for-8 performance at the free throw line.

Ashton Hackler just missed double figures with nine points, while
Holli Lindley ended with eight.

Kenzli Warden would pull down a team-best seven rebounds and added six points, while Lindley finished with six boards.

UAM opened the game on an 8-2 run over the first half of the first quarter, but the Storm would close the gap over the second half of the frame, using an 11-2 run to retake the lead before settling on a 12-11 advantage at the end of the first period.

The Blossoms would again take the lead early in the second quarter and would lead by as many as four points twice, the last time with 4:02 to play in the half.

SE would reel off an 8-0 run to take its own four-point edge before ultimately taking a 25-24 lead into the halftime break.

The Storm would not trail in the third quarter, but watched the lead yo-yo from as many as four points to tied over the course of the quarter before ending the frame with a 41-39 lead.

Southeastern would see an early four-point lead dissolve early in the fourth quarter as UAM would take the lead and push it to four points by the 7:44 mark.

The Storm would tie the game with 4l37 to play on a pair of Hackler free throws and another Hackler freebie with 2:27 to play would finally regain the lead for SE at 53-52.

However, UAM would use an 8-1 run to push its lead out to six points before Southeastern free throws in the final 20 seconds would close the final score to 62-58.
