Storm Combine for 32 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep

SHERMAN, Texas – Southeastern combined for 32 runs over two games in a doubleheader sweep of Texoma-Area rival Austin College on Tuesday night, taking game one 14-7 before winning the nightcap 18-6 in Sherman, Texas.
 
The wins lift the Savage Storm to 14-28 overall on the season with another non-conference matchup slated for April 17 versus East Central at 2 p.m. in Ada, Okla.
 
Cache Stone turned in three hits in game one to lead the offense, while Brady Evans drove in a game-high five runs on two hits, one of them a home run.
 
Wesley Mitchell and Dylan Herd each added two hits as well, while Cameron Cromer, Coby Grimsley, Reid Rice, Cam Wheeler, and Cory Bonstom each added a hit.
 
Stone would drive in three runs, with Bonstrom and Herd plating two each. Grimsley, Rice, and Mitchell each added an RBI.
 
Colby Kroutil got the start and earned the win after allowing a run on three hits with three strikeouts over five innings.
 
Jaden Lewis followed with one-third of an inning, allowing five runs on four hits before handing off to Coby Langford who allowed one unearned run on two hits.
 
Brody Logsdon would toss the final inning, striking out two without allowing a hit.
 
SE would get on the board in the top of the second as Stone and Herd singled home runs before Evans connected on a sac fly to take a 3-0 lead.
 
Mitchell would get the offense moving again in the third with an RBI single, followed by a two-run Stone single to take a 6-0 lead.
 
Bonstrom would keep things moving in the third with an RBI single, followed by a Herd RBI single and an Evans sac fly to mount a 9-0 lead.
 
AC would rally though, with a run in the fourth followed by six in the sixth to close the Storm lead to 9-7.
 
Evans would connect on a three-run homer in the seventh, followed by a Grimsley RBI double and a Rice sac fly to push the final score to 14-7.
 
In the nightcap, Jake Miller, Reid Rice, and Antonio Crews would each homer, with Miller, Crews, Coby Grimsley, and Herd each finishing with two hits.
 
Mitchell, Rice, Cromer, Kyler Copeland, and Stone each added a hit.
 
Grimsley finished with four RBI in the game, while Miller and Rice plated three each.
 
Crews and Stone drove in two runs apiece, while Mitchell, and Herd added an RBI each.
 
Charlie Deeds got the start and tossed our innings, allowing four runs, just one earned, on two hits with seven strikeouts.
 
Parker Pecina followed, allowing two runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning before Hayden Alexander came on to record a third of an inning, striking out the lone batter he faced.
 
Michael Minaya would toss an inning and strike out three of the four batters he faced before handing off to Corbin Lingo who tossed the final inning, allowing a hit and striking out one.
 
Mitchell would double home John David Muse before Stone doubled in a pair of runs to push the SE lead to 3-0.
 
The Roos would get one back on a solo homer in the second, closing the score to 3-1.
 
Grimsley would double home a pair of runs in the top of the third followed by an RBI single from Crews to double the score to 6-1.
 
AC would answer with a three-run homer in the bottom half of the inning to close the Storm advantage to 6-4.
 
Crews would connect on a solo homer in the fifth, but AC would pick up a pair of runs in the bottom half to cut the SE lead to 7-6 after five innings.
 
Miller would blast a three-run homer in the top of the sixth, followed by an RBI single from Herd and Rice scoring on a passed ball to extend the Southeastern edge to 13-6.
 
In the top of the seventh, Grimsley would triple home a pair of runs and later in the inning Rice would smash a three-run homer to push the Southeastern lead to 18-6 which would hold up as the final score.
