Bailey Beard homered but it was not enough to lift Southeastern who dropped the series opener against Southern Nazarene on Friday afternoon, 4-1, at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 21-17 overall and 13-8 in Great American Conference play with the series scheduled to complete on Saturday with a noon doubleheader.

Beard collected a pair of hits, including a home run, while
Ananda Garrison added one hit.

Reese Taylor got the start and took the loss after tossing 1.1 innings and allowing three runs on four hits with one strikeout.

Emily Simmons would toss the next 3.1 innings and allowed a run on four hits with one strikeout.

Alyson Malone would finish the contest with 2.1 innings pitched, allowing one hit and striking out two.

SNU would take the lead on a three-run homer in the second and tack on a run in the third to lead 4-0.

Beard would drive a ball to left in the fifth, it would ricochet off the left fielder's glove and clear the wall for her second homer of the season, closing the gap to 4-1 which would hold up as the final.
