BETHANY, Okla. – Southeastern got off to a slow start in the first half for a second-straight outing, but this time was unable to recover in time on Saturday afternoon, falling 59-48 to Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Okla.
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 12-6 overall on the season and 9-3 in Great American Conference play while also ending a six-game winning streak.
Kenzli Warden was the only SE player to reach double figures in scoring, finishing the contest with 10 points.
Stevie Stinchcomb followed with nine points while
Ashton Hackler put up seven off the bench.
Stinchcomb also paced the team in rebounds with seven, while
Abbie Barr dished out a team-high three assists and snagged five steals.
SNU scored the first five points of the contest and would lead throughout the first quarter, with Southeastern closing the gap to 9-7 with 1:17 to play in the frame on a Stinchcomb bucket before a Crimson Storm three would make the score 12-7 at the end of one quarter.
The Savage Storm offense would find little traction in the second quarter as it shot 35.0 percent from the field and hit just one three, leading the SNU pushing its lead to 30-16 at the halftime break.
The deficit peaked at 17 points early in the third, but Southeastern would chip away at the deficit, closing the quarter with seven of the last 0 points to cut the gap to 49-36 heading to the fourth quarter.
SE opened the fourth quarter on a 7-2 run and a Hackler three with 7:03 to play would close the difference to 51-43.
However, that was as close as the Storm would get SNU would push its lead back to double-digits.
Southeastern cut it to single-digits one final time on a pair of Warden free throws with 4:23 to play, but the Crimson Storm would answer with a three and a Barr free throw would be the only point scored over the final four minutes, making the final 59-48.
