DURANT, Okla. – Following the conclusion of the non-conference slate, the Southeastern men's basketball program turns its attention to Great American Conference action on Thursday, Nov. 4, when it heads to Arkadelphia and takes on Henderson State at 7:30 p.m.
SERIES NOTES
- Last season, Southeastern suffered two heartbreaking defeats to Henderson State after the Reddies made buzzer-beaters to win both games in 2024-25. SE trails HSU in the all-time series 23-13 heading into the 37th meeting.
- Southeastern has struggled on its trips to the Duke Wells Center, with just one win in its last 10 visits. The Storm's last win in Arkadelphia was an 83-61 win during the 2018-19 season.
STORM REPORT
Southeastern dropped both games at the Conference Challenge, hosted by Southern Nazarene, with defeats to Rogers State and Cameron. In the finale against Cameron, the two sides needed an extra ten minutes to decide a winner, as the Aggies edged out the blue and gold for a 111-109 win in double overtime. Following the defeat, SE heads into GAC play 1-5 overall after wrapping up its non-conference schedule.
After a slow start to the season, newcomer
Deondre Dunn has settled in over the last three games, posting three straight double-figure point games, including two 20-point outings. During this stretch, the Watonga, Okla. native is averaging 18.6 points per game after scoring 20 in the overtime defeat to Cameron. On the year, Dunn is averaging 11.0 points per game, shooting at a team-high 51.2 percent from the field, and is tied for a team-best 14 triples on a 46.7 percent mark.
Joining Dunn in double-digit scoring are
Santiago Camacho Gomez and
Ethan Scott. Gomez leads the team with 11.7 points per game, while Scott is seeing 11.5 points per game with 13 triples knocked down on 43.3 percent shooting. Both Gomez and Scott have reached double-figure points in all but one game across their appearances this season after recording 16 and 15 points, respectively, versus Cameron.
Southeastern enters the first round of conference play as the tenth-highest scoring team in the GAC, averaging 75.5 points per game. The Storm are shooting 44.8 percent from the field and converting 33.0 percent from the three-point line while leading the league with 11.3 triples per game. The blue and gold rank middle of the pack in rebounding, averaging 35.0 boards per game, and are led by
Ethan Wilkerson, who ranks sixth at the glass with 7.0 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING HENDERSON STATE
Henderson State has won three of its last four games coming into Thursday and sits 3-3 overall. The Reddies recently bounced back on the road with an 83-64 win at Christian Brothers after a 95-92 overtime loss to Arkansas-Fort Smith. Ahead of the start of the season, HSU was voted sixth in the GAC Preseason Poll by the league's coaches.
The Reddies boast the top-scoring offense in the GAC, averaging 89.3 points per game, following its 83-point outing against Christian Brothers. Zaveion Okoh spearheads the scoring for HSU with 20.7 points per game – second-best among scorers in the GAC – and is shooting 51.1 percent from the field. Okoh is one of seven players shooting 50.0 percent or better from the field, as the Reddies pace the league with a 51.0 percent mark from the floor as a team.
