Southeastern Rallies for Road Win Over ATU

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern rallied twice and closed the contest on an 11-3 run to pull away with a 69-60 win over Arkansas Tech on Friday night in Russellville, Ark.
 
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 18-7 overall on the year and 15-4 in Great American Conference play heading into a Sunday afternoon rematch with Harding set for 1 p.m. Feb. 23 in Searcy, Ark.
 
Caitlin Kobiske paced all scorers in the game with 21 points, shooting 50.0 percent form the field and just missing a double-double with nine rebounds. She also handed out team-high four assists.
 
Kenzli Warden was next in line with 17 points, also shooting 50.0 percent from the field, while pulling down seven boards.
 
Abbie Barr joined the duo in double-figures, finishing with 10 points, while Holli Lindley added eight and Stevie Stinchcomb chipped in seven.
 
Stinchcomb also finished the game with seven rebounds, while Lindley hauled in six.
 
SE was scoreless for the first 4:47, falling behind 10-0 before Warden drained a three near the midway point of the first quarter.
 
The deficit would grow to as many as 13 points before the Storm closed the gap to 22-11 at the end of the first quarter.
 
Warden and Kobiske would combine to dominate the second quarter, with the pair combining to score 18 of the team's 19 points in the period, including a 10-1 run over the final 5:44 to give the Storm a 30-29 lead at the halftime break.
 
ATU opened the third quarter on a 12-2 run to leave SE in a nine-point hole at 41-32, 3:31 into the quarter.
 
Southeastern answered with a 16-6 run to take a one point lead with 7 seconds to play, but the Golden Suns would hit a pair of free throws to end the frame with a 49-48 lead.
 
ATU pushed its lead to six points early in the fourth, but back-to-back threes from Barr and Kobiske triggered a 21-6 run to end the game with the Storm pulling away for the 69-60 victory.
