DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern was unable to overcome eight homers from Oklahoma Baptist as the Savage Storm dropped a non-conference, midweek matchup 17-7 in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The loss drops SE to 5-9 overall on the year as it prepares to host Southern Nazarene in a three-game Great American conference series beginning Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at Mike Metheny Field.

Wesley Mitchell led the Storm offense on Tuesday, picking up a pair of hits with a double and a homer, recording an RBI.

Ryan Kirk,
Gage Dollins,
Antonio Crews,
Alex Showalter, and
Austin Thorp each logged a hit, with Crews driving in three runs on a home run, while Thorp added an RBI.

Ryan Rauss got the start and took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits without recording an out.

In all, the Storm used seven pitchers, with six of them combining for 11 strikeouts for the game, with
Tanner Carter and
Ryan Farquharson posting the best outings of the day, combining for 1.1 innings without allowing a run while striking out four.

Four first-inning home runs put the Bison in front 6-0 to open the game, with a second-inning RBI double pushing that advantage to 7-0.

Kirk scored on a wild pitch I the third to get the Storm on the board, but a fourth-inning homer by OBU pushed the score to 8-1.

Mitchell connected on a solo homer in the bottom fo the fourth, trimming the deficit to 8-2 through four innings.

The Bisons added a run in the fifth and eight in the sixth, stretching its lead to 17-2 midway through the sixth inning.

The Storm brought home a pair of runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Thorp that also featured a run-scoring error by OBU.

Crews tacked on a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh, bringing the score to 17-7, but was unable to hold off the run rule.
