DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern posted four runs in the first inning and never looked back on its way to taking the series opener over Southern Nazarene 7-2 on Friday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 6-9 overall and 5-2 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series slated for a noon doubleheader on Saturday.

Gage Dollins finished the game 3-for-3 with a pair of triples and three runs scored, while
Ryan Kirk and
Alex Showalter each logged two hits.

Brady Evans,
Wesley Mitchell, and
Chase Keeton each finished with a hit.
Â
Mitchell drove in a game-high three runs, while Keeton added a pair of RBI, with Kirk and
Payton Poole driving in one apiece.

Daniel Colins got the start and took another no decision as he went 4.1 innings and allowed a run on three hits with four strikeouts.

Cody Pfeffer came on in relief and picked up his third win of the year, tossing 3.2 innings and allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Carson Abbott tossed the final inning, allowing a hit an no runs.

SNU put up a run in the top of the first, taking advantage of two walks and two HBPs to take a 1-0 lead midway through the opening inning.

The Storm responded in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game when Poole drove in a run on a bases-loaded hit by pitch.

Mitchell followed with a sac fly to plate Dollins to take a 2-0 lead which would doube to 4-1 two batters later Keeton connected on a two-run single to push the lead to 4-1.

Both teams were scoreless over the next three innings and into the bottom of the fifth when SE pushed home a run on a Mitchell RBI groundout that plated Dollins for a 5-1 lead through five innings.

Kirk added a run in the bottom of the sixth, singling home
Alex Showalter to extend the lead to 6-1.

The Crimson Storm got a run back in the top of the seventh on an RBI double, closing the Southeastern lead to 6-2.

In the bottom of the inning, Dollins collected his second triple of the game and came home on a Mitchel RBI single to center, pushing the Storm lead to 7-2 which would hold up as the final score.
