DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State drops second meeting with Oklahoma Baptist 81-65 in the Bloomer Sullivan Arena on Thursday night. The Savage Storm fell to 10-17 overall and 8-13 in the GAC.
SE ended the game with a 41.1 percent clip from the field and shot 33.3 percent at the three-point line with nine triples. OBU held the slight edge at the glass 37-to-32, and both teams finished with 10 turnovers apiece, and each had 13 points off takeaways.
Robert Briley led the Storm in scoring with 18 points and added a team-high ten rebounds for a double-double.
Landon Condiff knocked down three triples on his way to 13 points, and
DJ Dill would match him with another 13.
Santiago Camacho Gomez rounded out the scoring with ten and chipped in five assists.
The Bison had the early momentum, as they stormed out of the gates to take an 11-3 lead in the first three and a half minutes. Southeastern's next five points came from Camacho Gomez, but OBU remained hot at the basket, extending its lead to 21-10. From there, Briley and Dill converted from the foul line, and a Dill layup kept the Storm within ten, 26-16.
The Bison broke things open again with a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to set up their largest lead of the half, 40-20. Southeastern replied with a pair of three-pointers from Condiff and
Jalen Williams to trim the gap to 43-27 at the halftime break. SE was held to 32.1 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes with six turnovers, while Oklahoma Baptist converted 51.5 percent from the floor.
Another fast start by Oklahoma Baptist to begin the second half allowed the Bison to grow its advantage to 49-27. The two sides traded points over the next three minutes, and a three-pointer by Condiff sparked a 7-0 run for Storm to chip into the gap. Another five points from Dill kept the Storm within 15, but another run of points for the Bison stretched their lead back to twenty, 77-57.
Southeastern continued to battle with a burst of points, scoring six straight, but the Bison lead would prove too large, as OBU won 81-65. Southeastern (10-17, 8-13) heads to Alva for the regular season finale against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
