SE Baseball Drops Midweek Rivalry Matchup

ADA, Okla. – Southeastern used five pitchers and surrendered 11 walks en route to suffering a 16-5 loss in a midweek matchup with East Central on Tuesday afternoon in Ada, Okla.
 
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 10-16 overall on the season heading into the weekend series versus Harding March 21-22 at Mike Metheny Field.
 
Nick Mueller led the SE offense with a 3-for-3 performance with two RBI, with Jake Miller picking up a pair of hits.
 
Coby Grimsley, Alex Showalter, and Antonio Crews each added a hit.
 
Mueller, Grimsley, and Miller each doubled.
 
Grimsley posted a team-high three RBI in addition to Mueller's two.
 
Gabe Massey got the start and took the loss after allowing five runs, four earned, on three hits with two strikeouts and four walks in one inning.
 
Jordan Brown followed, allowing a run on a hit in an inning followed by Brayden Phelps who allowed four runs on four hits in an inning of work.
 
Ryan Rauss was next in line, allowing five runs on three hits in an inning of work before handing to Michael White who tossed the final two innings, allowing one unearned run on a hit.
 
ECU took the lead in the bottom of the first with three runs and followed with three more in the bottom of the second to take a 6-0 lead.
 
Mueller doubled home Crews in the top of the third to get the Storm on the board, closing the gap to 6-1.
 
The Tigers answered with four runs in the bottom half, pushing its lead to 10-1 through three innings.
 
Grimsley connected on a bases-loaded, three-run double to plate Showalter, Isaac Shaw, and Miller, cutting the deficit to 10-4.
 
ECU followed with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the fifth, stretching its lead to 16-4.
 
Mueller singled home Grimsley itn he top of the sixth but that would end the scoring for both teams as the final would remain 16-5.
