SE Drops Friday’s Twin Bill at No. 13 Harding

SEARCY, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State drops the first two games of the series at No. 13 Harding, falling 10-2 in game one and 3-0 in the second contest of the day.

Southeastern (14-17 7-9 GAC) wraps up its series with No. 13 Harding tomorrow at noon from the Harding Softball Field.

GAME ONE: HU 10, SE 2
An early baserunner for the Lady Bisons led to the first run of the game, as Harding took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after a leadoff walk. Harding held its one-run lead through the next three innings despite the Storm getting leadoff runners on in the third and fourth innings. The Lady Bisons soon broke things open in the bottom of the fourth frame, plating six runs to stretch the gap to 7-0.

Southeastern cut into the Lady Bisons' advantage in the sixth, scoring two runs on three hits. SE got a leadoff single by Iliana Olivares, and two batters later, a hit by Susan Edwards had runners on the first and third with two outs. The Storm loaded the bases with a walk, and a single down the right field line from Kennedy Morgan brought in a pair of runs to make it 7-2.

However, Harding replied with three runs in the bottom half to get a 10-2 win. Morgan led the blue and gold at the plate with a perfect 3-for-3 day with two RBIs, while Olivares had two hits and a run scored. Alyson Malone fell to 1-2 in the circle after starting the game and going 3.1 frames and allowing seven runs on seven hits.

GAME TWO: HU 3, SE 0
Similar to the first game of the day, Harding took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first to open the scoring. The Lady Bisons soon added to their advantage in the second frame, scoring another run to extend the lead to 3-0.

Through the first four innings, the blue and gold tallied just two hits, all off the bat of India McMurray. McMurray threatened to score the first run for SE after recording a double in the top of the fourth, but the third out would strand the baserunner. Southeastern was limited to those two hits for the rest of the game, as the Lady Bisons took game two 3-0.

Emily Simmons got the start in game two and pitched all 6.0 innings with three runs allowed on six hits and had three strikeouts. Southeastern ended the game with two hits and stranded three runners on base, and committed one error.
