MONTICELLO, Ark. – Southeastern saw a pair of games slip away in the late innings, dropping both ends of a Saturday doubleheader at Arkansas-Monticello by scores of 19-9 and 15-3 in Monticello, Ark.

The losses drop the Savage Storm to 16-26 overall and 12-15 in Great American Conference play.
Â
Chase Keeton led the way in game one with a 4-for-4 outing that included an RBI and three runs scored.

Wesley Mitchell,
Colton Sagely, and
Payton Poole each added two hits while
Jake Miller and
Ryan Kirk had one apiece.
Â
Mitchell, Keeton, and Poole each homered, while Sagely doubled.
Â
Sagely and Poole each finished with three RBI, while Mitchell drove in two and Keeton plated one.
Â
Colton Clawson got the start and took a no decision after allowing six runs on eight hits in four innings pitched with three strikeouts.
Â
Luke Johnson followed and took the loss after allowing four runs on three walks without allowing a hit in two-thirds of an inning.

Blake Zimmer came on to close that inning and allowed a run on a hit before handing to
Tristan Mills who tossed 1.2 innings and allowed eight runs, only two of them earned, on seven hits.

SE jumped in front early in the first inning, starting with a Sagely RBI single followed by a three-run home run by Poole to take a 4-0 lead early.

UAM picked up two in the bottom half to cut the Storm lead to 4-2.
Â
The Boll Weevils picked up two more in the second to tie the game at 4-4.
Â
Keeton led off the third with a solo homer to regain the lead at 5-4, and in the fourth Mitchell connected on a two-run homer followed by an RBI double by Sagely to take an 8-4 lead.
Â
UAM picked up two in the bottom half to cut the lead to 8-6, and a five-run fifth would give them an 11-8 lead.
Â
Sagely drove in a run on a sac fly in the top of the sixth, closing the deficit to 11-9, but the Weevils scored four in each of the next two innings to make the final 19-9.

In the finale, the Southeastern offense collected just two hits, one from Poole and one from
Austin Thorp.
Â
Daniel Collins got the start and tossed two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on a hit with three walks.
Â
Carson Abbott followed with the most effective outing of any Storm pitcher, throwing two innings without allowing a un while allowing two hits and striking out three.

Austin Hillebrandt followed with 1.2 innings, raking the loss after allowing four runs on four hits.

Tanner Carter,
Brayden Phelps,
Ryan Farquharson, and
Parker Pecina combined to toss the final 1.2 innings and allowed five runs, one of them earned, on two hits with five walks.

UAM picked up three runs in the bottom of the first, but the Storm answered in the top of the second as Thorp drove in a run on a single before Kirk and Evans each drove in a run on a bases-loaded hit by pitch to tie the score at 3-3.

That is where it would sit until the fifth inning when the Weevils picked up eight runs and tacked four more in the sixth, taking a 15-3 lead which would hold up as the final.
