DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern closes out the regular season with a home defeat to Ouachita Baptist, 7-6, on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, SE honored seniors
Sabetha Sands,
Sage Harlow,
Sheyenne Cheek,
Kristin Rodriguez and
Kennedy Morgan.

The Savage Storm had four players record a multi-hit game, led by two hits from
Laci Larsen for three RBIs. Both
Emily Simmons and
Kennedy Morgan went 2-of-3 at the plate, while
Susan Edwards finished 2-of-4 with an RBI and a run scored. SE outhit the Tigers 11-to-8 but committed two errors that led to scores for Ouachita.

Southeastern and Ouachita were tied 1-1 at the end of the first inning after trading runs, and the Tigers soon took a 3-1 lead in the second, scoring two more. The third frame would be the first scoreless frame posted by either team, but the visitors scratched in another score in the top of the fourth to stretch the edge to 4-1.

After being held in check following the first inning, the blue and gold got the bats going in the bottom of the fifth and exploded for five runs to grab their first lead of the contest, 5-4.

SE loaded the bases with back-to-back hits from Harlow and
Iliana Olivares before a walk by Simmons juiced the bases. The first two runs were brought in off the bat of Larsen, who doubled to left field. The next run crossed home on a pass ball, tying the game 4-4, and a single by Edwards and a double from Morgan would plate two more, 6-4.

However, the Tigers had an answer in the top of the sixth with a three-run frame to go back ahead 7-6. Ouachita turned to its closer in the seventh after holding the Storm to one hit in the sixth and got the final three outs for the win.

Southeastern (26-26, 17-16 GAC) heads to Bentonville, Ark., for the GAC Tournament on Thursday, May 1, to take on Southern Nazarene or Harding in the first round at 10:30 a.m.
