Volleyball Falls to SWOSU at Home 3-0

DURANT, Okla. – A slow start to the match for Southeastern sees the Savage Storm fall to Southwestern Oklahoma State 3-0 on Tuesday night.
 
Gabby Jones helped lead the attack for the blue and gold with seven kills while also recording a team-high 14 digs. Maci Morrison chipped in six kills and paced the side with 4.0 total blocks, and Jasmin Dion would pull the strings for the Storm with 12 assists.
 
Southeastern (6-8, 1-3) hits the road on Thursday, as they head to Southern Nazarene on October 2 for the Battle of the Storms at 6 p.m.
 
SET ONE
A slow start from the blue and gold saw the Bulldogs jump on top 8-3, and the visitors' edge would soon grow to 14-4 after a flurry of points. Southwestern remained in control through the next exchanges, adding to its score and eventually winning the set 25-10.
 
SET TWO
Similar to the opening frame, Southeastern trailed 6-0, but the blue and gold would chip into the lead through a pair of attacking errors by the visitors and a kill from Jaedyn Newman to cut the gap to 10-7. The Storm remained on the heels of the Bulldogs, building a 5-0 run, featuring two kills by Jones and a service ace by Kylee Turner to stay within three, 17-14. Southeastern eventually closed the gap to two, but a 5-0 flurry from SWOSU closed out the set 25-18.
 
SET THREE
Southwestern carried the first lead at 8-3, but Southeastern would take advantage of the Bulldogs' errors to close the gap to one, 11-10. The Storm attack began to heat up, recording seven kills over the next rallies, capped off by a kill from Riley McFarland to tie the set 18-all. The two sides remained tied at 19-all, and a kill from Morrison and an attack error by SWOSU locked the set 21-21. However, Southwestern would hold off the late Storm rally for a 25-23 set victory.
