DURANT, Okla. –
Patience Lewis celebrated senior night with a match-high 27 digs while
Gabby Jones turned in 14 kills, but it was not enough to lift Southeastern past Southwestern Oklahoma State in a 3-0 loss on Tuesday night in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
Â
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 13-15 overall record and a 7-8 mark in Great American Conference play, but still clinches a berth in the postseason tournament thanks to a Henderson State loss to Arkansas-Monticello.
Â
Lewis is one of three seniors playing in their final home matches, joining
Nykeriah Allen and
Calista Miller.
Â
Lewis finished the night with 27 digs in her final home match, while
Merrick Hammel added seven digs with
Jasmin Dion and Jones adding six each.
Â
Jones led the offense with 14 kills, while
Rylee Jackson was next in line with eight.
Â
Dion turned in 27 assists on the night, adding six digs, a block and a service ace.
Â
Jackson reeled off five kills in the first set, but after seeing the match see-saw early the Bulldogs would push out to a five-point lead by the mid-set point and maintain that margin en route to a 25-19 win.
Â
It was Jones who turned in five kills in the second set, but the Storm found itself in a similar situation as the opening set, ultimately falling 25-17 to trail 2-0.
Â
Jones added seven kills in the third set and SE kept it close late, closing the gap to 22-21, but SWOSU took three of the final four points to take the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
