DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern scored in six of the eight innings it batted on its way to an 11-7 midweek victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 5-4 overall on the season heading into the first conference road series of the year Feb. 20-21 at Henderson State.

Jax Heid collected a pair of hits and drive in three runs, while
Easton Ford added two hits with two RBI to lead the offense.

JJ Bush,
Gage Dollins,
Carter Olson,
Austin Parker, and
Logan Rose each picked up a hit.
Â
Dollins homered for his RBI, while Bush, Olson, Parker, and
Alex Showalter each drove in one.
Â
Six pitchers took the mound for Southeastern on the contest, with
Zach Andrews getting the start and tossing two innings followed by two innings from
Ryan Rauss.

Brock Zimmer followed and collected the win, allowing a hit in an inning of work.

He was followed by
Daniel Collins who pitched two innings, followed by
David Brown and
Chase Wernimont who tossed an inning each.

SWOSU opened with three runs on four hits in the top half of the first inning but the Storm answered with three runs of their own, doing so on the back of three walks and two hit by pitches, scoring all three runs without the benefit of a hit, knotting the score at 3-3.

The Bulldogs picked up two more runs in the top of the second, using two walks and two hits to take a 5-3 lead.

SE picked up one more run without logging a hit in the second as Bush beat out a double-play to drive in a run and close the gap to 5-4 after two innings.

Heid plated a run on an RBI single in the bottom of the third to even the game at 5-5.

In the bottom of the fourth, Showalter plated a run on a fielder's choice and Heid drove in two more on an infield hit, pushing SE ahead 8-5 after four frames.

Ford plated another Southeastern run with an RBI single in the fifth to take a 9-5 lead, but the Bulldogs got a run back in the seventh to close the Storm advantage to 9-6.

Dollins led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer and Parker connected on a pinch-hit, RBI single to drive in Bush and extend the lead to 11-6 after seven innings.

SWOSU got a run back in the top of the eighth, trimming the Storm lead to 11-7 which would hold up as the final score.
