SE Explodes Over Final Two Innings in 18-8 Win over ECU

ADA, Okla. – Southeastern scored 14 unanswered runs over the final two innings to pick up an 18-8 victory over rival East Central in a non-conference, midweek matchup on Tuesday afternoon in Ada, Okla.
 
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 19-11 overall on the season heading into a weekend series versus Oklahoma Baptist set for Match 27-28 at Mike Metheny Field.
 
JJ Bush and Carter Olson each collected three hits, while Alex Showalter and Tyler Payton posted two apiece.
 
Isaac Villa, Hayden Carpenter, Jacob Ambriz, and Seve Aguirre each picked up a hit.
 
Bush and Olson each finished the game with a double and a homer, with Carpenter and Ambriz each adding a homer.
 
Showalter and Payton each tripled.
 
Olson drove in four runs and Payton posted three RBI.
 
Bush, Carpenter, and Ambriz each drove in a pair of runs while Villa, Gage Dollins, Jax Heid, and Aguirre drove in a run each.
 
Ryan Rauss got the start and tossed an inning in a no decision, allowing five runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
 
Juan Berrios followed with a three-inning outing, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits with three strikeouts.
 
Brayden Tambone followed with two innings, allowing as hit before handing the ball to Trevor Bane who recorded the win with an inning or work, striking out two.
 
Austin Hillebrandt closed out the contest with an inning.
 
Bush put the Storm on the board with a solo home run in the top of the first inning.
 
That lead was short-lived as the Tigers picked up five runs in the bottom of the first.
 
Heid drove in another Southeastern run on a sac fly in the second, but again ECU had an answer, stretching its lead to 6-2 in the bottom half.
 
The Tigers tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth, and the Storm responded with an Olson solo homer in the top of the fifth to trim the deficit to 7-3.
 
ECU added to its lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Southeastern again answered with a solo homer off the bat of Ambriz, closing the gap to 8-4.
 
The Storm fired back in the top of the eighth with a huge nine run inning.
 
Aguirre got things started with an RBI single and two batters later Villa plated another run with a single to center field, and another run came home on an error, closing the score to 8-7.
 
After reloading the bases, Bush drew an RBI walk to tie the game at 8-8 and a batter later Olson connected on a three-run double to take an 11-8 lead.
 
Carpenter finished the scoring in the inning with a two-run homer, extending the lead to 13-8 midway through the eighth inning.
 
Ambriz drew a bases-loaded walk to pick up the scoring in the ninth inning, followed a batter later by Dollins getting hit by a pitch to drive in another run.
 
Two batters after that Payton tripled home a trio of runs, pushing the Storm lead to 18-8 which would hold up as the final.
