The Savage Storm struck first in the match, as the blue and gold secured the doubles point behind wins at Courts 2 and 3.
Eric Poindexter and
Luke Tinnock picked up a 6-3 win from line 3 after the Lions opened the round with a win at Court 1. The partnership of
Benjamin Fracassi and
Nolan Guerin soon followed with a victory at spot two, delivering a 6-4 win over Simeon Latinchev and Nathan Rigault.
UAFS quickly evened the match at 1-1 with a win at No. 1, but the Storm answered back with back-to-back wins at lines 3 and 2 to push ahead again, 3-1. Poindexter earned the blue and gold's first win of the round at No. 3 with a 6-2 and 6-3 win, while Tinnock won a three-set battle at No. 2, 7-5, 4-6 and 6-2 against UAFS's Birk Arwedahl.
The Lions continued to pressure the Storm, pulling a score back at spot 5 to trim the blue and gold's lead to 3-2. However,
Nolan Guerin won the second straight-sets match for SE in the round, defeating UAFS's Rodrigo Hoppe 6-4 and 7-6 and providing Southeastern with the match-clinching point, 4-2.
Paolo Estrada closed out the match for SE with a win in straight sets at Court 6, earning a 6-4 and 7-5 victory over the Lions' Kevin Praphan. Southeastern (4-8, 1-2) remains at home on Thursday, April 2, at 1 p.m. against Ouachita Baptist.
