ALVA, Okla. – Southeastern rallied from a six-run deficit, but was unable to take the lead in a 9-6 series-opening loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday night in Alva, Okla.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 12-6 overall on the season and 7-3 in Great American Conference play with the final two games slated for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.

The Storm served as the home team due to the last-minute change of venue and thus had the last at bats in the game and will for the remainder of the weekend.

Austin Parker led the way for SE with three hits, while
Ryan Kirk,
Carter Olson,
Hayden Carpenter,
Jacob Ambriz, and
Jax Heid each logged two hits.

Isaac Villa and
Alex Showalter each finished with one hit.
Â
Villa and Olson homered and Olson turned in two RBI, while Villa, Parker, Ambriz, and Heid each plated one.
Â
Dylan Hill got the start and tossed five innings in a no decision, allowing six runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
Â
Marcus Mott followed and was tagged for the loss on 2.1 innings of work with two runs allowed on two hits.
Â
Cody Pfeffer followed and allowed a run on a hit in two-thirds of an inning.
Â
Austin Hillebrandt tossed the final inning and retired the side.

SE got off to a rough start as the Rangers put up six runs in the top of the first inning.

Villa opened the bottom half of the inning with a solo homer to cut into the deficit and two innings later Olson doubled home Kirk and Parker plated Bush to cut the gap to 6-3 after three innings.

Olson led off the fifth with a solo homer and the Storm would tie the game at 6-6 in the seventh following an RBI doble by Ambriz and an RBI single from Heid.

However, NWOSU put up three runs in the top of the eighth to retake the lead at 9-6.

SE would put a pair of runners on with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, but were unable to close the gap in a 9-6 loss.
