Storm Baseball Splits Saturday Twinbill at NWOSU

ALVA, Okla. – Southeastern bounced back from a 7-4 loss to open Saturday's action and closed out the series with a 9-2 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon in Alva, Okla.
 
The split moves the Savage Storm to 13-7 overall on the season and 8-4 in Great American Conference play.
 
In the series finale, the Storm got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning on a Bush two-run homer.
 
The Rangers picked up a run in the second and tied the game with another run in the top of the fifth at 2-2.
 
Showalter drew a bases-loaded walk to break the tie in the bottom of the sixth and was followed by another bases-loaded walk by Olson and a two-run single from Bush to push the lead to 6-2.
 
After a MNWOSU pitching change, Kirk connected on his second homer of the game, this one a three-run shot to put Southeastern in front 9-2 heading to the seventh and that would hold up as the final.
 
Ryan Kirk finished the finale with a pair of hits, both home runs, piling up five RBI in the contest.
 
Isaac Villa, JJ Bush, Payton Poole, and Seve Aguirre each logged a hit, with Bush driving in two runs, while Carter Olson and Alex Showalter each plated one.
 
Jacob Fuller got the start and took a no decision after tossing five innings and allowing two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
 
Carson Abbott stepped in and tossed the final two innings without allowing a run or a hit to pick up his second win.
 
Bush led the offense in game one with three hits, including a home run and a double, while driving in one.
 
Olson added two hits and two RBI in the effort.
 
Villa, Ausitn Parker, Hayden Carpenter, Jax Heid, and Showalter each had a hit, with Showalter adding an RBI.
 
Estevan Fonseca got the start and took the loss after allowing five runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings.
 
Daniel Collins followed with 3.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits before Austin Hillebrandt came on to finish the game, tossing two scoreless innings.
 
In game one the Storm fell behind in the first on an RBI single, and the Rangers would tack on two more in the second and two more in the fourth to mount a 5-0 lead midway through four innings.
 
Showalter put SE on the board in the fourth with an RBI single to drive in Austin Parker.
 
Bush tacked on another run in the fifth on a solo homer, cutting the deficit to 5-2.
 
NWOSU put up two runs in the seventh, extending its lead to 7-2.
 
Olson drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth, but SE was unable to complete the rally, leaving the final 7-4.
