Caiden Hubbard collected three hits and
Carter Olson smacked a grand slam as Southeastern jumped in front early and took the rubber-match of its three-game series with league-leading Arkansas-Monticello by a 9-6 score on Saturday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The win gives the Savage Storm a series victory over the Great American Conference leaders and lifts them to 24-17 overall and 15-12 in conference play.
Â
Hubbard led the offense with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate that included a home run, a double, three RBI, and two runs scored.
Â
Isaac Villa and
Alex Showalter each added a pair of hits, while Olson,
Austin Parker,
Logan Rose,
Jax Heid and
Payton Poole each added a hit.

Olson led the way with four RBI, followed by Hubbard's three with Villa and Rose each driving in a run.
Â
Daniel Collins got he start and tossed 5.2 innings on his way o a win, allowing three runs and six hits while striking out six.

Brayden Phelps threw one pitch and recorded an out to end the sixth before handing the ball to
Juan Berrios who logged 2.2 innings and was tagged for three unearned runs on two hits with five strikeouts.

Austin Hillebrandt would take the ball from Berrios and needed two batters to record the final out and pick up his second save of the season.Â

UAM took the lead in the first inning, bringing in a run on a balk.

The Storm struck next in the bottom of the second inning, first bringing in two runs and taking the lead on a two-run double by Showalter.

Later in the inning Olson would extend that advantage with a grand slam over the right field wall, making the score 6-1.
Â
Villa tacked on a run in the bottom of the third on an RBI single to center, stretching the lead to 7-1.

The Boll Weevils picked up two runs in the top of the fourth on a two-run homer to left, trimming the Storm advantage to 7-3 midway through four.

Rose plated another run in the bottom of the sixth on a sac fly and pushing the lead to 8-3 through six innings.

Hubbard added a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh making the score 9-3, but UAM answered with a three-run homer down the right field line to trim the Storm lead to 9-6 midway through the eighth inning.

After getting through a pair of innings, Berrios took the mound to toss the ninth and recorded a pair of outs but left the game with runners on the corners.
Â
Hillebrandt loaded the bases by hitting the first batter but coaxed the second batter into a ground out to second base to end the game and preserve the 9-6 win.
