DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern completes the sweep against Southwestern Oklahoma State behind a walk-off two-run home run by
India McMurray to defeat the Bulldogs 3-2.
The Savage Storm recorded seven hits for the game, paced by
Tristan Hopkins,
Tally Rowland and
Kasey Simmons with two each. The blue and gold would tally three stolen bases and commit one error defensively.
Trinity Oden improved to 4-7 in the circle, pitching all 7.0 innings with two runs allowed on seven hits and four strikeouts.
SE and SWOSU were locked in a scoreless battle, as the two sides were tied 0-0 heading into the fifth. During this stretch, the Storm recorded three baserunners, including two in the third, but were unable to find a breakthrough hit.
However, that would change in the fifth after an error by SWOSU's shortstop allowed McMurray to reach first to begin the frame.
Serenity Oden would pinch run for McMurray, and good base running by the sophomore had her standing on third with one out. On the third at-bat of the inning,
Keegan Rowland sent a sacrifice flyout into center field to score S. Oden and give the Storm a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs were kept in check for the majority of the game by starting pitcher T. Oden, but the visitors soon got their bats going in the seventh, and would take a 2-1 lead behind a two-run homer. Southeastern was quick to answer back in the bottom half of the seventh, as K. Simmons got the frame started with a leadoff single. McMurray stepped up to the plate on the next at-bat and wasted no time, blasting a two-run home run over the left centerfield wall to walk it off the Storm, 3-2.
Southeastern (16-21, 10-11 GAC) breaks from GAC action for a midweek meeting with UT Dallas on Wednesday, April 8 in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. in Richardson, Texas.
