HOT SPRINGS, Ark. –
JJ Bush connected on a go-ahead double in the top of the ninth inning and
Carson Abbott shut the door in the bottom half as Southeastern survived its first elimination game by sending home top-seeded Arkansas-Monticello with a 6-5 win on Friday morning in the Great American Conference Tournament in Hot Spring, Ark.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 29-20 on the season and keeps its postseason alive heading into another elimination game on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. versus the loser between East Central and Southern Arkansas which takes place on Friday afternoon.

Carter Olson collected three hits on the day, including his 20th home run of the season, while Bush,
Jax Heid, and
Isaac Villa each logged a pair of hits.

Ryan Kirk,
Austin Parker,
Logan Rose, and
Alex Showalter each added a hit as well.
Â
Bush finished the game with three RBI, while Kirk, Olson, and Parker each plated one.
Â
Dylan Hill got the start and logged two innings, allowing four runs on six hits with two strikeouts in a no decision.

Jacob Fuller would take over and record 5.1 innings in relief, striking out seven and allowing a run on two hits.
Â
Brock Zimmer recorded two-thirds of an inning in relief, allowing a hit and two strikeouts on his way to the win.

Abbott followed with a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his second save of the year.

UAM jumped in front early with a run in the bottom of the first and extended the lead to 4-0 with three runs in the bottom of the second.

Southeastern responded in the top of the third, first with Kirk drove in Villa on a double before scoring later in the inning on a Parker RBI fielder's choice, closing the gap to 4-2.

After a pair of scoreless innings by both teams, it was the Storm who got back on the scoreboard first as Bush doubled home Showalter in the top of the sixth to cut the gap to 4-3.

An inning later, Olson led off the frame with a solo homer off the scoreboard in right field to knot the game at 4-4.

UAM regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with an RBI single to take a 5-4 lead into the final frme.
