EDMOND, Okla. – Southeastern opened the day with a 3-0 victory over Northeastern State before finishing out the second day of the GAC-MIAA Crossover with a 3-1 loss to Fort Hays State.
 
MATCH ONE: SE 3, NSU 0
 
SET ONE
The first featured a back-and-forth start with neither side able to find an edge, with three ties locked at 7-all. SE was first to find separation through a pair of kills by Gabby Jones, and the blue and gold soon took a 18-12 lead behind a quick 4-0 flurry. Southeastern would not let NSU close the gap and took advantage of RiverHawk errors down the stretch to win, 25-20.
 
SET TWO
The Storm came out swinging early in set two, building a 13-1 run to grab a 15-6 lead. During this stretch, SE hammered down seven kills, with Nykeriah Allen and Layla Wilson each slamming two. The blue and gold continued to score in bunches, rattling off five straight points, capped off by an ace by Patience Lewis to set up back-to-back kills from Allen and Jasmin Dion to claim a 25-11 win.
 
SET THREE
Wilson had the hot hand at the start of the third, slamming down a pair of kills to give SE an 8-6 edge. From there it was all Southeastern, as the Storm chained together seven straight kills to push ahead 17-10. The red-hot attack of Southeastern finished the set attacking at a .485 clip and outscored the RiverHawks 8-to-3 to close out the sweep with a 25-13 set win.
 
 
MATCH TWO: FHSU 3, SE 1
 
SET ONE
SE took a 1-0 lead in the match after reeling off a 5-1 run to open the set. The Storm never trailed in the set, with FHSU closing to within two points before Southeastern used a 10-5 run that saw the Storm take an 18-11 lead. The advantage would peak at 23-14 before settling on a 25-17 final score in a first-set win. Rylee Jackson had a team-high three kills it he first set, while Jasmin Dion, Jones, Allen, and Anger Ngeth each had two kills in the set.
 
SET TWO
The teams were even from the tip in set two, with SE trailing 11-8 before a 6-3 run by FHSU opened the score up to 17-11.  The Tigers Pushed the lead to 22-13 before ultimately taking the set 25-16 to even the match at 1-1. Jones, Jackson, and Wilson each logged a pair of kills, while Patience Lewis recorded three digs.
 
SET THREE
The teams played to an early 5-5 lead before FHSU jumped in front, holding the lead until the Storm rallied to knot the score at 16-16 following a Merrick Hammell ace. The teams tied again at 17-17 and 18-18, but the Tigers scored seven of the final 11 points to take the set 25-21. Jones and Jackson had two kills each in the set, while Lewis recorded 13 digs in the set and Allen posted three blocks.
 
SET FOUR
The fourth set featured eight ties as the teams battled out to a 12-12 score. FHSU followed with a 6-1 run, but SE bounced back with a 5-1 run to close the gap to 19-18. The Tigers closed out the set with six of the final seven points to take the clincher 25-19. Jones and Jackson turned in four kills each in the final set, while Lewis added four more digs.
