Cross Country Finishes Seventh at the MSSU Southern Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. – Southeastern claims seventh place in the women's 5K meet at the MSSU Southern Stampede with a team score of 251.
 
Hosts Missouri Southern took the team title with 43 points, just beating out second-place Pittsburg State, which totaled 50 points. Tulsa capped off the top three finishers in third with a score of 53, while Southwest Baptist and Central Missouri rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively.
 
The Savage Storm had two runners finish inside the top 50 individually, led by Anahi Machuca, who paced the blue and gold with a 19:06.23 and placed 41^st. Following just behind, Calibre Keene clocked in at 19:14.58, which improved on her season-best time from 2025 to claim 49^th place individually.
 
Braleigh Wood was next to cross the finish line at the 19:31.59 mark for 54^th place, followed by Macie Peterman (71st), who recorded a 19:41.62. Lindsey Wortham turned in the next time for Southeastern with a 19:51.05, and shortly after, Aimee Clarke registered a 20:01.92. The next two runners to finish for SE were Tatum Cross and Lauren Garza with times of 20:11.99 and 20:17.60, respectively.
 
Cassandra Vargas followed on the heels of the duo, clocking a time of 20:18.22 to place 111^th. Mackenzie Robinson was next to cross the finish line with a time of 20:30.94, and Naomi Cotero followed with a 20:56.82. Olivia Cannon trailed Cotero in 152^nd place, recording a time of 20:58.49, and Mireyda Samper was next to make it to the finish line with a time of 21:11.52.
 
Rounding out the event for the Savage Storm, Aereonna Cardenas posted a 21:40.89, while McKenna Wood recorded a 24:03.89. Southeastern is back in action on Friday, Sept. 25, at 8 a.m. in Columbia, Mo., for the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by Missouri.
