TULSA, Okla. – The Southeastern cross country program opened its season at the Distance After Dark and finished 12
th as a team.
Leading the Storm in the first meet of the season, freshman
Macie Peterman paced the blue and gold with a time of 19:44.3 to place 51
st individually, and
Anahi Machuca followed on the heels with a time of 19:50.6 in 54
th place.
Next to cross the line for SE was
Calibre Keene, who put in a time of 20:02.2 to finish 62
nd, while
Lindsey Wortham (65
th) and
Mackenzie Robinson (70
th) recorded times of 20:07.5 and 20:18.5, respectively. Not long after,
Tatum Cross turned in a time of 20:24.3, and
Lauren Garza recorded a 20:29.4.
Aimee Clarke, in her first meet with Southeastern, was next to make it to the finish line at 20:41.8, before
Olivia Cannon and
Cassandra Vargas crossed the line back-to-back at 20:52.8 and 20:57.6. Following the pair, freshman
Braleigh Wood turned in the next time for SE at 21:08.2, and
Mireyda Samper would follow with a 21:25.0.
Rounding out the first event of the season for the Storm was the trio of
Naomi Cotero,
Aereonna Cardenas and
McKenna Wood. Cotero put in a time of 21:57.6, and Cardenas finished next at the 22:52.1 mark before Wood crossed the line at 23:49.9.
Southeastern returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 8 a.m., when they race in the MSSU Southern Stampede, hosted by Missouri Southern.
