Alex Rainwater

Alex Rainwater returns to Southeastern prior to the 2021 season and will step into the role of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2023 season.

In his first season calling plays, Rainwater's offense ranked it he top half of the league in rushing and passing yards, with DJ Brown ranking eighth in rushing, while Marquis Gray and Hunter Hawthorne each ranked top-10 in receiving.

Led by Gray's first team selection, the Storm offense would feature four all-GAC selections in 2023.

In 2022, his receiving corps ranked among the best in the region and was led by Gray who set single-season record in receptions, yards, and receiving TD's on his way to earning All-American honors.

Across the 2021 and 2022 seasons he would also guide Braxton Kincade to a pair of All-GAC honors, with his wide receivers snagging 233 catches for 2,860 yards and 24 TD's in 2021 before improving on those numbers with 256 catches, 3,2872 yards, and 26 TD's.

He was also the team's special teams coordinator in 2022 which saw Kaleb Whitley pick up All-GAC honors as a returner with a 96 yard KO return for a score, while the punt return team would score three times on the season.

Rainwater started his coaching career with the Savage Storm in 2014 as a student assistant working with the team's tight ends.

He would serve as the team's tight ends coach from 2015 through 2018, coaching a trio of All-Conference performers at the position, led by NFL Tight End and 2021 Super Bowl Champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Codey McElroy, as well as Bryce Steele and James Revada.

After leaving SE he would spend the 2020 season as the quarterbacks coach at Madill High School where his quarterbacks finished the season completing over 71 percent of their passes for 1,200 yards before returning to the Savage Storm.

He has a pair of degrees from Southeastern and in 2017 married his wife, Kelsi, also an SE graduate, and the couple welcomed their first child, Marcus, in March of 2020, and a second, Austyn, in December of 2022.
