Brad Smithey joined the Southeastern coaching staff as a graduate assistant working with academics and the wide receivers in the spring of 2015.
Smithey makes the move from the field to the sidelines after finishing his eligibility after the 2014 season at Southwestern Oklahoma State.
A native of Mesquite, Texas, he played for SWOSU from 2010 to 2014.
Smithey was a two-time All-Great American Conference selection at wide receiver and made the All-Great American Conference Academic team twice. Smithey was also named an All-American by USA College Football. He is the 4th all-time leading receiver in SWOSU history.
Smithey earned his Bachelor of Arts in History Education from SWOSU and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Sports Studies and Athletic Administration.
Smithey recently participated for Team USA in the IFAF World Championships where USA took the gold.
