Brett Bowers joined the Southeastern coaching staff before the 2017 season and will direct the team’s linebackers.
In his first season with the Savage Storm linebackers the team had a pair of all-conference LB honorees, led by first team pick Justin Young. Linebackers held three of the top four spots among SE tacklers.
Bowers joins the Savage Storm after finishing his playing career at New Mexico where he was a two-year starter on the defensive line for the Lobos, going on to earn 2013 MWC Honorable Mention and was a MWC player of the week during the 2013 season.
He spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Mendicino College where he earned 2012 All-Region California Junior College Team and was a two-year starter on the Defensive Line. He also earned 2012 All-Conference Bay Valley Conference and was the Runner-Up for Defensive Player of the Year in the same season while posting
16.5 sacks.
He would play a pair of seasons of professional indoor football following his college career, first for the Spokane Empire in 2016 and then for the Duke City Gladiators in 2017.
He also started his coaching career in 2016 when he became the strength and conditioning coach at Mendocino College while also handling duties as recruiting coordinator as well as working with the defensive line and linebackers.
Bowers earned an associate’s degree in kinesiology from Mendicino and added a bachelor’s in university studies at New Mexico and is working on a master’s degree at Southeastern.
