Don Hudson took over the Southeastern golf program in the summer of 2009.
In his time at the helm he returned the Savage Storm to the NCAA postseason, earning a bid to the 2013 NCAA Central Region Tournament for the first time since 2008 and earning the first back-to-back team regional qualifications by repeating as a qualifier in 20014.
In 2014 he coached Marcos Sevilla to the school’s first NCAA National Championship qualification after he posted a third-place finish at the Central/Midwest Super-Regional.
That 2014 club tied or set team records in scoring versus par (12.28), national scoring rating (46), wins in a season (2), rounds played (29.0), finishing percentage (69.5%), birdies (322), eagles (8), par 4 scoring (4.28), and par 5 scoring (4.98).
They also posted the top two team single rounds at minus-four and minus-three at the GAC Preview and the low 36-hole total of minus-seven at the GAC Preview.
The team was a member of the Lone Star Conference for his first two seasons before moving to the Great American Conference beginning in the 2011-12 season.
Since taking control of the program he has guided seven all-conference honorees between the GAC and the LSC.
Hudson has also pushed the team steadily forward, increasing its top-five finishes in each of the last three seasons for a total of nine and leading the team to a pair of tournament titles.
Southeastern has finished as high as fourth in the conference tournament under his guidance, doing so in the 2014 GAC Championship.
Hudson joins the Savage Storm following his retirement as the assistant principal at Pottsboro High School in Pottsboro, Texas.
Hudson is married to Vicki Hudson who is a was a long-time women's athletics coach for Southeastern and currently serves as the Chair of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation department.
